CHAPTER 2   PROBABILITY: DEFINITIONS, INTERPRETATIONS, BASIC LAWS

This chapter contains the mathematical and axiomatic definition of probability, with an acknowledgement that there is a number of different interpretations of probability (long-run average, pound of jam, does not exist etc.). The corollaries to the axioms, and use of ideas from Chapter 1 (in particular, mutual exclusivity and partitions) give general rules for calculation of probability in complex situations
