Current Hunt:

Live ATH Notes

19 Jan 11 01.00 Well done everyone. We have received entries from Space Invaders, PuzzleTome, Famous Five, Amanda Hartwell, Q4T Logicals, Peter D.G. Smith et al, PathFinders, Mick Rogers, Slow Learners, Chiltern Fellowship, Yarboroughs, Psychological People, Jason McKay, Ringing the Changes, Friends of Dorothy, David Kee Team, Sociometry, TwelevePack, Bruce Jackson, Dotty Incanabula, Team Norway, I am Spartacus, Too many armchairs not enough Treasure, Bell Book and Canto, No Management Potential, Treble Bobs All Round. If you think your entry may have gone missing please let us know immediately, although it's likely it's there under an unfamiliar team-name. You may continue to send us hunting tales, preferably using the same team names.

As the treasure box has been found and the Library trail solved, we shall not be issuing further clues for credit. However, we shall soon grant access to the online sections for those who have not yet visited them.

18 Jan 10 6.00pm: With impeccable timing, the Logica Web-site went down for a period, but now seems to be back. Nevertheless, we trust you will manage to submit your entry by midnight to .

18 Jan 10: Entries close when the bells strike midnight tonight. Please do send us an entry, even if it is not as complete as you would like. We will publish solutions and results here as soon as we can, the good Lord willing.

11 Jan 10: There is one more week before the closing date for entries, including another weekend on which we are promised the weather will be ideal for treasure-seeking. However, you may wish to begin preparing your submission now. Please do send us an entry, even if you have not been able to spend very long on the hunt this year.

Please reread the instructions in the release notes below. We request electronic entries, in some standard format such as pdf or Word. Ideally you should submit a single, self-contained document, but if you have good reason a few separate documents will be accepted. Try to keep filesizes reasonable - we will be receiving large numbers of mails at approximately the same time, and we don't want to overload athmmix's mailbox. If you wish to send a large file please contact us so that we may make special arrangements. We shall acknowledge receipt of all entries.

We anticipate a close competition this year and you are advised to include all pertinent details in your entry, whether obvious, doubtful or merely whimsical. Tales of your hunting experiences are encouraged, and you may send these after the deadline rather than including them in your main entry.

01 Jan 10: Our best wishes for a happy new year, especially to those of you who
have not already seen them. We hope you have not got stranded at Fenchurch St.
Paul, athmmix.

25 Dec 09: Season's greetings, especially to those of you who have not already seen them.

22 Dec 09: We have made a small change to the text on page 2 to clarify a contentious issue, with thanks to Rawlinson, Hubbard and Mortimer.

21 Dec 09: We have checked that the route to the treasure site is clear.

If you find the box, please let us know.

18 Dec 09: Looking for teammates? If you mail , we will put you in touch with any one else in the same boat.

17 Dec 09: The 2009 Logica Armchair Treasure Hunt has now been published, in PDF and HTML, as promised in the poster.

A backup copy of the Hunt can also be found in http://www.ma.ic.ac.uk/~ajm8/athmmix. Make a note of this in case the Logica site goes down, as it sometimes does over the Christmas break.

For general information about the Hunt see the ATH Guide and the FAQ.

The HTML works well in Firefox and acceptably in Internet Explorer. Safari has a problem displaying one feature. Other browsers have not been tested. The PDF was printed directly from Firefox, which is available to download free for PC or Mac.

We'd be happy to hear reports of your progress by email to , especially if you think there may be a mistake in the hunt. We will correct any errors or serious ambiguities, but will not be giving any hints or guidance.

Entries should be sent to athmmix(at)ntlworld.com by 23.59 on Monday January 18th. Any document format we can read will be accepted. Marks will be awarded for all sorts of things, including solving codes, identifying pictures, pointing out thematic links and maybe even amusing the setters. Include as much as you can in your entry, whether trivial or profound. Credit will be given for answers different from ours only if you have provided compelling justification. We will consider only the most recent version of submitted documents, in the case that you wish to make changes following a late sally or inspiration.

We welcome entries from anyone, but only teams with a captain who is a Logica employee will be eligible to receive the Logica prizes. These will be awarded for the first finders of the treasure, the best overall entries, the best submission by a first-time entrant, and anything else the setters deem merits it. No person or team may receive more than one major prize.

When you find the treasure box, please follow the instructions inside. If you are certain you have found the correct location but the box isn't there, please let us know. In this case we would welcome a telephone call on 01223 329671 or 07771 794644. It is possible that part of the route to the treasure may become obstructed during the hunting season. If that happens, it should be easy to navigate round the obstruction with the aid of a map. Please let us know if it does.

News and any corrections will be posted here during the hunt.

We wish you all an enjoyable hunt - Paul, Frances, Anna and Jonathan.
