Symmetric Icons are constructed using a determinstic symmetric dynamical system. The images shown are colored realizations of chaotic symmetric attractors.
Each image is constructed using iteration of a planar symmetric map. Typically, the map is polynomial - though some of the images are constructed using maps with a non-polynomial (in fact, non smooth) term. We refer to Symmetry in Chaos for more details and references.
